Discover Oiji Mi

If you find yourself wandering through the lively streets of New York, you might want to stop by Oiji Mi, an exceptional dining spot tucked away at 17 W 19th St, New York, NY 10011. It's one of those places where food and atmosphere come together to create a dining experience that’s as memorable as it is flavorful.

Stepping into Oiji Mi feels like entering a space that knows exactly what it’s doing, yet doesn’t take itself too seriously. The vibe here is modern and inviting, with an open kitchen concept that lets you catch glimpses of the magic happening behind the scenes. The ambiance is warm, with a touch of sleekness that gives the place a contemporary edge, all while still feeling comfortable and unpretentious.

The menu at Oiji Mi is a delightful exploration of creative dishes, drawing inspiration from Korean cuisine but offering a twist that’s uniquely their own. One standout dish that truly exemplifies the restaurant’s approach is their famous "Angus Beef Tartare." This dish takes the traditional tartare to new heights, featuring rich, finely chopped beef paired with delicate, yet bold flavors. The addition of kimchi and house-made gochujang gives it just the right amount of heat, while balancing the richness of the beef.

Another example of their creativity can be found in the "Miso Black Cod." Miso and cod are no strangers to each other, but at Oiji Mi, they’ve perfected the balance of savory and sweet. The cod is perfectly cooked, flaky, and tender, while the miso glaze adds a beautiful depth of flavor that lingers long after the first bite. The attention to detail in each dish is undeniable, with every ingredient thoughtfully chosen to complement the others.

While the food is undoubtedly the star of the show, Oiji Mi also places a strong emphasis on beverage pairings. Their cocktail list is a must-try, with drinks like the "Yuzu Negroni," a refreshing take on the classic with a citrusy twist, and the "Ginger Smash," which pairs a spicy ginger kick with a refreshing herbal finish. The cocktails are innovative without being overwhelming, and they offer a great way to enhance the overall dining experience.

The service at Oiji Mi deserves a mention too. From the moment you walk in, the staff exudes a level of professionalism that’s warm and welcoming. They know the menu inside and out and are more than happy to walk you through any questions or recommend dishes based on your preferences. The attention to detail extends beyond the food and drinks; it's about creating an experience that makes diners feel taken care of from start to finish.

In terms of location, Oiji Mi couldn't be in a better spot. Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, it's easily accessible for both locals and tourists. Whether you’re out for a casual night with friends or celebrating a special occasion, the setting of Oiji Mi provides a perfect backdrop for any kind of evening.

If you're someone who appreciates great food, thoughtful presentation, and a restaurant that truly knows how to deliver on flavor, then Oiji Mi is definitely worth a visit. It’s the kind of place that leaves you thinking about your meal long after you’ve left the table, and with so many unique dishes to choose from, each visit promises to be a new adventure for your taste buds.

  • Oiji Mi Food: The chili oil lobster ramyum is the move. Rich, savory broth with just enough heat, perfectly chewy noodles, and tender lobster. It’s the kind of dish you think about the next day and consider going back for. The rest of the menu is beautifully plated and thoughtful. Portions lean upscale (not huge), but the flavor more than makes up for it. Service: Friendly, polished, and just attentive enough without hovering. Our server gave great recommendations and didn’t make us feel rushed, even on a busy night. Ambiance: This place is sleek. Dark wood, soft lighting, cool touches everywhere. The bathroom was a standout. It’s one of those places where you walk in and go, “Oh… this is nice.” Great for a date night or a special occasion dinner that’s not stuffy. Overall: Oiji Mi nails that upscale-but-still-fun balance. Come hungry, get the lobster ramyum, and maybe take a bathroom selfie while you’re at it. Definitely worth a visit.

  • We ordered the tasting menu at Oiji Mi. The beef tartare stood out with good texture, paired with pear, noodles, and a cold broth that felt like a cold soup and noodle combination. Refreshing and balanced. The scallop and mushroom soup had nicely cooked scallops that were very tender, but the seasoning leaned salty and the creamy base felt a bit heavy. The fish course didn’t work well for me, as the seafood flavor came across stronger and slightly fishy. The steak was solid, with good texture, easy to bite through, and a light char on the outside. We also added a seafood rice bowl with uni, sweet shrimp, and roe. The ingredients were fresh and the uni was sweet, making this a safe choice. One noticeable element throughout the meal was the frequent use of black truffle. Personally, I didn’t find that it added much to the dishes, and the truffle aroma was quite subtle. Desserts were thoughtfully prepared, especially the yuzu granita paired with ice cream, which helped refresh the palate.

  • Great spot. The "choose your own adventure" model is imo superior to a typical multi-coure meal. You get to try more dishes without feeling either too full or only a small bite of the dish you were looking forward to the most. Everything we tried was delicious. I am somewhat reluctant to call this a Korean restaurant. Korean-inspired - sure. It does not detract from their quality and ensures broader appeal through use of subtler flavors. (skip the galbi though). I was impressed by their extensive wine options too.

  • Really solid food for the price point. The Oiji Bowl in particular is like the ultimate poke bowl, blew me away. Can't imagine a bowl being much better than that. Highly recommend if you're looking for fine dining without breaking the bank (only 150 pp without including any supplements, +35 for the Oiji Bowl because they use Hokkaido uni!).

  • We celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary here and the experience was absolutely fantastic. We arrived a little earlier than our booked time, but our table was already ready and we were warmly accommodated, which set the tone for the evening. The service was excellent throughout, and the food was outstanding — very tasty, beautifully presented, and genuinely artistic. We went with their 7-course holiday special, and every single course ranked highly, making it a memorable dining experience from start to finish. A special mention for the thoughtful gesture at the end: we were surprised with house-made mini cupcakes, beautifully plated with a handwritten note celebrating our anniversary. That personal touch truly made the night extra special. An unforgettable experience and a perfect place for celebrating meaningful occasions. Highly recommended.

  • Elevated Korean to its finest! I can't even begin to tell you how amazing the food was. We had the most decadent food and only ate at the bar. The bartender gave us wonderful suggestions on what to order as well as attentive service. We can not wait to try the formal dining room or Bo. The beet tartare on toast was delicate and delicious. The chili lobster ramyun had the most velvety flavors. The Oiji bowl with sea urchin was phenomenal. There was so much thought put into these bites and gorgeous presentation. Highly recommend trying.
